Robinson leaves Rangers
Stafford Rangers manager Phil Robinson today left the club.
Stafford Rangers manager Phil Robinson today left the club just before their bottom of the table Blue Square Premier match with Northwich Victoria.
In a joint statement from the club and Robinson it was announced this afternoon that he had left his post by mutual consent of the board.
The Stafford-born former Wolves player had been at the helm at Marston Road for five-and-a-half years.
"During recent weeks as a result of the club's well-publicised financial position I have held numerous discussions with the board.
"They understand my ambitions and I their difficulties. I thank the board for their support during my period as manager and wish both them and the club good luck for the future."
Robinson said he was "desperately sad" to leave the players and urged the Rangers fans to get behind the team for the rest of the season.
A caretaker coach is to be appointed and the situation will be monitored while the board search for a replacement.
