Fans questioned Hansen's loyalty when he was expected to return from injury, but stayed at home in Denmark.

He only joined the club in May on a temporary basis after losing his place at Premier League Workington thanks to a broken scaphoid.

And after showing glimpses of his true ability with some bumper scores, he suffered a heavy fall in the Elite League meeting at Reading in August.

He said: "It was a bad crash and I was badly hurt.

"I kept trying to get back on a bike here in Denmark and it was obvious it was too soon for me.

"I should have rested for the full amount of time, but I'm enthusiastic about my speedway and I want to ride at every opportunity, but this time it was at a cost.

"Now I cannot wait for the new season to start, I'm working hard in training and I will be fit and raring to go."

Towards the end of the season Hansen hit some high scores and Monmore fans quickly included him in their wish list for next season's line-up.

"I only ever wanted to come back to Wolverhampton," said Hansen.

"I was disappointed in the way my situation at Workington was handled last season, I was out injured and then they signed Carl Stonehewer and left no space for me to return.

"But I ended up making the move from the Premier League up to the Elite with one of the most famous names in world speedway and now I'm thrilled it's all sorted for next season.

"I met Chris Van Straaten in Copenhagen on Tuesday, he came out for the day to sort things out, and that shows how professional and serious he is about getting the right team for next season.

"I'm really excited and cannot wait to get back over to England and ride in what I hope will be a successful Wolverhampton team."

Hansen joins fellow Dave Nicolai Klindt in the Parrys International Wolves line-up for 2008, the remaining five riders will be confirmed after this weekend when the points limit governing team strengths will be finalised by the sport's bosses.
