The Pitmen should have increased their lead in the 18th minute when Chris Hanna headed over Chris Adam's cross.

And they were made to pay in the 21st minute when substitute Ian Kearney equalised.

Wayne Dyer had conceded a free kick just outside the penalty area, the free kick was cleared but the ball was hit straight back into the penalty area where Kearney was the first to react.

In the 61st minute, Rod Thornley put Witton in front when he managed to get a toe at the near post to Steve Brodie's cross from the right to deflect the ball wide of Gilmartin and into the far side of the net.

Neil Brisco was then given his marching orders for a poor tackle and, after that, Witton took full advantage with Adam Warlow wrapping things up in the 70th minute.

Hednesford: Gilmartin, Brisco, Adams, Sheppard, Wells, Robinson, Arnolin (Simms 76), W.Dyer, R.Dyer, Hanna, Adam (Pedro 45).

Sub not used: Nagington.

Attendance: 447
