Harriers made it three wins in a row with victory over their Ryman League Division One North rivals to book an away tie with Dagenham & Redbridge.

Harriers manager Mark Yates admitted: "We were made to work hard. Ware played very well and tested us. It wasn't pretty but the result was one we were happy to take."

Two goals in three second-half minutes ended a spirited display from a side three divisions below as Michael Blackwood and James Constable – on his return from injury – struck.

This was achieved not along after a controversial 70th-minute dismissal of Harriers captain Stuart Whitehead. He was adjudged to have committed a professional foul on John Frendo.

Yates said: "Stuart held his head in his hands, obviously disappointed that the referee had awarded a foul against him when he, and I, thought it should have been given the other way.

"The referee has looked at this reaction and interpreted it differently and acted with the straight red.

And Constable had what seemed a

perfectly good goal ruled out on the stroke of half-time when Iyseden Christie was adjudged have been been interfering with play.

Ware had reached this stage only once before in their 115-year history and Wodson Park's record attendance of 816 for the last round was overhauled as more then 2,100 turned up.

Harriers: MacKenzie, Bignot, Blackwood, Creighton, Whitehead, McGrath, Ferrell, Penn, Smikle (Hurren 71), Christie (Richards 67), Constable (Harkness 82).
