The Scholars made history by making the last 64 ties when they beat Team Bath 2-0 on Saturday.

The tie is set to be played on either Friday, November 30 or Sunday, December 2 as Vale's Potteries rivals Stoke are at home on the Saturday.

But the game – between teams five levels apart – may be moved anyway for live screening by the BBC or Sky TV which would bring aa further six-figure windfall to the Church Street coffers.

Chasetown were backed by more than 1,500 supporters at Twerton Park at the weekend, but the club believe the excitement generated, plus the prospect of a Staffordshire derby can attract more than three times that amount.

Chairman John Donnelly said: "We'll be taking a minimum of 5,000 fans to Vale Park."

Manager Charlie Blakemore said: "It's just a dream. Port Vale are a local, League One club and although we have virtually no chance of winning, we're going to enjoy the occasion and try to compete as best we can."
