Stafford Rangers striker Marco Adaggio is facing a lengthy lay-off after suffering a suspected broken leg in Saturday's FA Cup clash with Cambridge.

The teenager earned Rangers a replay at the Abbey Stadium tomorrow night for the right to meet fellow Blue Square premier side Aldershot in the first round proper a week on Saturday.

Adaggio was seriously hurt in being tripped for the spot kick which veteran striker Neil Grayson converted to level the tie at 1-1.

"It's another problem to go on top of all the other ones we've had this season," said manager Phil Robinson.

"Marco has been a bit of a revelation this season and we're just hoping the injury isn't so serious."

Rangers battled back from conceding a penalty after only 30 seconds to take the Us to a replay.

But with teams all over the country eagerly hoping for a glamour tie against Walsall, Leeds or Nottingham Forest, the draw didn't produce the showdown either camp were hoping for.

Robinson said: "It's a home draw, which would be great. If we can get past Cambridge, there's nothing to say we can't get past Crawley or Aldershot.

"I'm a little bit frustrated we didn't take one of those great chances we had to win this first time.

"I'm pleased with the way we dug in during that first half and then in the second we started passing the ball well and opened them up at times."

Robinson added: "Cambridge are one of the better Blue Square premier division teams and they're right up there challenging, so our players can take a lot of belief and confidence from their performance."

Rangers had Luke Potter, the teenager on loan from Barnsley, making his debut, but the club's other new signing, Sami Mawene, remained on the bench.

"Luke had an excellent debut and we're delighted with him," added Robinson.

"But there were a number of players who stood tall – Jemiah Richards did his job and it was a pretty tall order against one of the most productive wingers in the league."
