Kidderminster are in danger of spending the season in mid-table obscurity after Weymouth condemned them to defeat with two second half goals.

Weymouth broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute and then rocked Harriers with a killer second goal seven minutes later.

It plunged Mark Yates' men to a fourth home league reversal that leaves them in 11th place in the table.

They had been hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Histon six days earlier but they paid the price for failing to turn their first half dominance into goals.

Once they fell behind they rarely looked capable of clawing their way back into the match despite Weymouth having midfielder Paolo Vernazza sent off in the 82nd minute for a second bookable offence.

Yates now has the task of lifting his side's confidence ahead of Saturday's FA Cup fourth qualifying round clash against Blue Square North outfit Vauxhall Motors at Aggborough.

On the balance of play injury-hit Kidderminster should have built up a useful lead by the interval, but they found it hard to find a clearcut route through Weymouth's determined rear-guard.

Once Weymouth went ahead however Harriers responded in a way that bitterly disappointed Yates' assistant Neil Howarth.

He said: "When you are playing at home and you're a goal down you need a few characters to stand up and be counted and show that bit of quality that, at the moment, they aren't doing."

Harriers looked fully capable of getting their noses in front during the first period with striker Matthew Barnes-Homer being the main threat to Weymouth's defence.

He was in Harriers starting line-up for the first time this term and did his best to impress, but was unable to make the most of the chances that came his way.

Weymouth celebrated being under new ownership by taking the lead through skipper Ashley Vickers.

He managed to force the ball home after being the quickest to react to a corner from Vernazza which may well have been less effective if Harriers central defender Mark Crighton had been in action instead of serving a one match ban.

Jason Tindall's Weymouth nailed down the points when Aggborough captain Stuart Whitehead was to blame for enabling Gavin McCallum to break away and shoot past goalkeeper Chris MacKenzie.

Vernazza's early exit failed to harm Weymouth who went on to comfortably secure their third away league triumph of the season.
