York tie best - Rushall boss
Rushall boss Paul Holleran admits he couldn't have picked a better FA Cup tie than York City if he had drawn it himself.
Rushall boss Paul Holleran admits he couldn't have picked a better FA Cup tie than York City if he had drawn it himself.
Olympic will travel to the Conference side next Saturday after reaching the fourth qualifying round for the first time in the club's history with victory over Hednesford.
It leaves the Pics only one game away from a potential tie with Nottingham Forest, Leeds, or even a local derby with Walsall in the first round proper.
And Holleran says the club is revelling in the buzz of excitement that has engulfed Dales Lane.
"The place has been buzzing with everything that has been going on after the result last Saturday and the draw on Monday," said Holleran.
"The week has just got better and better since the draw. It doesn't matter what competition you're in, you want to be drawn at home - but if I'd gone to the FA myself and made the draw I couldn't have picked us a better tie.
"We were in the northern section of the draw so we couldn't have played Oxford, Torquay or Exeter.
"But York were the biggest club in our section and we got them. It's fantastic.
"I've told the players we can't start focusing on York until after today's FA Trophy game against Mossley and then we can start putting everything in place.
"I said when I did my team talk against Boldmere in the preliminary round that we had to get through and if we did the games would get bigger and bigger.
"With playing Atherstone, Sutton Coldfield, Hednesford and now York that's just what's happened.
"It just doesn't get bigger than York away in non-league football.
"It's nice that we've got this far for the fans, and because it boosts the club's coffers and it's profile.
"People know who Rushall are now."
Holleran is planning to take the Pics up to York early next Saturday morning to allow his playersto acclimatise.
"We have a routine, including always having a pre-match meal, and I don't want to change things," said Holleran.
"As long as the players compete next week then that will do me. I can't ask any more of them."
Olympic followed up their FA Cup triumph over the Pitmen with an impressive 3-0 victory over Leek in the Staffordshire Senior Cup.
"Last Saturday was an all-round super performance," added Holleran.
"I told the players we couldn't allow Hednesford to settle because otherwise they had the quality to pass the ball and pass us by.
"Our tempo had to be right and it was. We didn't let them settle and we were first to most things. If it had not been for Rene Gilmartin we would have won by more.
"We carried that on on Tuesday night despite making a few changes and kept the momentum going.
"At the moment Hednesford and Leek are struggling to win games and they're finding it hard to break that rut.
"Likewise when you're winning games you can find things go for you."
