Bears sign paceman

Warwickshire have signed Ireland fast bowler Boyd Rankin on a two-year deal.

Boyd turned down a deal with Derbyshire to join the Edgbaston club after hearing he would have the opportunity to work with the Bears' new bowling coach Allan Donald.

"Derbyshire made me a very good offer, and it was a difficult decision to leave," said Boyd.

"However, once the opportunity arose with Warwickshire, and the chance to work with their bowling coach Allan Donald, it was something I had to go for."
