Rushall marched into the fourth round qualifying stage of the FA Cup for the first time in their history as they claimed the prized scalp of UniBond Premier neighbours Hednesford - extending their 100 per cent home record to eight games.

Striker Gary Birch gave Olympic a dream start with only seven minutes gone. His initial drive was well blocked by Rene Gilmartin, as was a follow-up effort.

But the former Walsall front- runner rifled home at the third attempt.

Tom Ward glanced a header wide as the Pitmen chased an equaliser. Six minutes before the interval Rushall lost Paul Szewczyk to a knee injury.

He was replaced by Pics top scorer Sean Dowdall.

Olympic defender Lee Barrow almost scored a spectacular own goal in the 40th minute with a diving header that was only kept out by a brilliant full length save from his keeper.

Four minutes after the restart Hednesford's Mario Pedro was unlucky when his vicious drive was marginally wide.

Dowdall was then only denied by Gilmartin and Neil Barnfield fired wide.

On 76 minutes Breeden maintained Rushall's lead as Ashley Woolliscroft let fly with a 25 yard drive that he tipped over at full stretch.

Olympic booked their place in the next round on 84 minutes when Dowdall lashed an unstoppable drive past Gilmartin.
