Boss Mark Yates hinted at bringing in new faces after his 10-man Kidderminster side surrendered their four-match unbeaten run.

Yates said: "I may need to bring in new players, if that is what it takes for the side to play consistently.

"We have quality but we need to produce results consistently and not concede poor goals."

The game hinged on the 51st minute dismissal of Harriers centre-back Mark Creighton.

Yates felt his side should have done better despite being down to 10 men.

"I'm disappointed my players didn't play in the second half, even when Mark was sent off I expected them to be more solid, but we allowed Histon to win a game we'd controlled in the first half," he said.

"We were the better team but we failed to prevent the cross that led to the opening goal and we did the same just after the sending off."

Harriers dominated early on and John Kennedy cleared off the line following a goalmouth scramble.

But Histon took a 28th minute lead against the run of play when Cliff Ankurang slid in to meet Erkan Okay's centre to open the scoring.

Histon were happy to launch the aerial assault, but despite attractive build-up play, Harriers were unable to find a way through.

Harriers replaced the injured James Constable at half-time with former Wolves scholar Matt Barnes-Homer while Ankurang suffered a similar fate just after the restart with Daniel Wright.

Wright's first involvement was to race onto Murray's flick, only to be hauled back by Creighton when he was in a clear goalscoring position.

Referee Rob Whitton produced a straight red for the Harriers defender and pointed to the spot, although after consulting assistant James Thornhill, he awarded Histon a free kick outside the box.

Within three minutes Histon were further ahead as the unmarked Erkan Okay headed home Knight-Percival's cross.

Harriers keeper Chris Mackenzie then pulled off a string of saves to prevent Histon running riot. In time added on Barnes-Homer netted his first goal for the club, sweeping in Andy Ferrell's pass.
