Wing wizard Cristiano Ronaldo was among the goals in the Express & Star's fantasy football game, sponsored by Wickes, as Manchester United exploded into life against Wigan. The champions had made an indifferent start to the season in front of goal, but a pair from Ronaldo, worth six points, and a goal and an assist from Wayne Rooney, worth five, led to a 4-0 win.
Brazilian Elano scored six points for two goals this weekend as Manchester City continued their impressive form. Arsenal striker Robin van Persie also scored two goals, worth six points, as the Gunners left it late to beat Sunderland.
Tottenham were denied a win at Anfield by a last gasp Liverpool equaliser, but Robbie Keane still scored six points for his two goals.
Portsmouth defender Hermann Hreidarsson added a goal to a clean sheet to score six points as well, while Emre (Newcastle) and Kenwyne Jones (Sunderland) each got five points for a goal and an assist.
Manchester United, Aston Villa, Reading, Chelsea and Portsmouth were the only teams to keep clean sheets in a goal filled weekend.
With a £2,000 top prize up for grabs, along with eight £100 manager of the month prizes – all provided by Wickes – there is still time for new players to join.
