A first half Michael Blackwood goal was enough to give Kidderminster Harriers an important away win as Salisbury City's unbeaten home record came to an end.

Harriers manager Mark Yates was delighted at his team's response, having lost 5-2 at home to Torquay United the previous weekend.

He said: "It was important for us to get a 1-0 win, we have conceded a lot of goals down to individual errors, but the lads worked hard and showed the kind of resolve I know they are capable of.

"I watched Salisbury play at Forest Green, they battered them into submission, we knew we had to match them physically and deal with the aerial threat.

"The players are probably sick of the sound of my shouting, we had a free week to try and sort out the recent problems, but if that is what it takes to produce a performance as good as this then that is what we must do."

The Harriers manager also praised players in the build up to the winning goal.

"Andy Ferrell played a great ball for Justin Richards to run onto and he showed great skill in facing the defender and holding up the ball in the area.

"I thought he would try and have a go himself but it was a delightfully weighted ball that set up Michael Blackwood and it was a composed finish."
