Stafford Rangers manager Phil Robinson was today cursing the missed chances that cost his team victory at Rushden and Diamonds.
Robinson was delighted that his side extended their unbeaten run to three games on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Nene Park.
But he admitted his pride was tinged with disappointment at the failure to collect all three points.
"At the moment any point gained, particularly at a place like Rushden, is a great point for us," said Robinson.
"Having said that, maybe we deserved a little more from the game. I thought the better chances fell to us."They had a bit of possession at times but, on the whole, they didn't create too many opportunities.
"We had the clear scoring opportunities and at 1-0 up Marco Adaggio had a one-on-one. Had he scored it would have been the three points for us.
"It was a great performance, really hard working and gritty performance and more than value for the point.
"We set out to keep our little unbeaten run going. We did, however, go to get the three points we deserved."
Robinson felt that, on the whole, his side defended well at Nene Park.
But he accepted they were caught out by the long ball which led to Rushden's equaliser.
He said: "Their goal was a long ball which caught us out a bit. They have a lot of pace and ability up front and on another day we might have dealt with it better and not conceded. a team."
