The 25-year-old midfielder, signed from Welsh champions The New Saints in the summer, started nine of Rangers' opening 10 Blue Square Premier games, but was left out of the squad at Weymouth, where the club picked up their first win of the season. Robinson would not elaborate on his reasons for letting Stones go, but praised the teenager who had taken his place - Ross Draper. The 19-year-old had a major part in last night's 1-1 draw with Histon, although it was the man who replaced him in a tactical switch - veteran Neil Grayson - who grabbed the equaliser with his first goal of the season. "It was important we backed up our win at Weymouth with something last night and we did just that," said Robinson.
"We came out in the second half with the bit between our teeth and I thought we deserved a victory, but it wasn't to be, unfortunately.
"Histon have beaten some good teams this season by being direct and we knew what was coming, but for the majority of the game we dealt with it well.
"They are very difficult and we stood up well to it. When we play well, we do the ugly things better, like tackling and winning the ball.
"Ross is a really honest boy, very competitive and very brave.
"And what an you say about Neil Grayson? He's 42 and he had a massive impact on the game."
The point didn't move Rangers up the table - but it edged them closer to the Blue Square Premier survival zone after a dismal start to the campaign.
Rangers are now only three points from safety, with fifth bottom York not in action last night.
Robinson is now preparing his players for another tough battle at Rushden and Diamonds on Saturday.
Diamonds drew 1-1 with Grays last night to remain just below mid-table.
The Marston Road chief will be hoping to build on their tally of four points from the last two games.
