Chasetown bowed out of the Errea Cup at the first hurdle with a disappointing display against Bedworth United.
Despite the League success over Aylesbury United on Saturday, manager Charlie Blakemore opted to ring the changes, but the side lacked power up front and it was left to the defence, led by captain Kevin Thompson, to provide the game's few highlights.
Five minutes in a cross from the hard-working Ben Twigger saw headers from Danny Smith and Paul McMahon thwarted, before Karl Edwards rounded Lee Hunt 10 minutes later only to be halted by the linesman's flag.
Further efforts from Twigger and Smith following free-kicks went wide.
Another Twigger cross on the half-hour saw Russell Peel dive for a header, but he just failed to connect as the ball was palmed away by Bedworth keeper Andrew Kemp.
The visitors opened the scoring on 49 minutes when Daniel Pitham picked up a Karl Wiggins corner, turning rapidly to send the ball low past young Chasetown keeper Matt Sargeant.
Chasetown's equaliser came out of nowhere 10 minutes later.
A high ball from Paul McMahon was headed out by Darren Bartley and appeared to be heading into touch, but an optimistic effort by defender John Branch bounced its way past Kemp to level the scoreline.
The Scholars failed to follow up the equaliser, and a dangerous free-kick near the edge of the area by Bedworth substitute Luke Baker found Lee Greenway, who fired home via the post.
Things got worse for the Scholars late on when defender Russell Peel was sent off after picking up two yellow cards.
The Scholars will be looking to pick themselves up this Saturday when they visit Cambridge City in the FA Cup.
