Wolves have been dealt a double blow ahead of tonight's mouthwatering Elite League speedway derby clash against Coventry at Monmore Green on Monday (7.30pm).

Swedish youngster Freddie Lindgren is sidelined for the next week after crashing heavily in his national championships at the weekend. Lindgren was taken to hospital, and, although nothing is broken, he is suffering from hip and groin injuries.

And Billy Hamill has been ruled out after aggravating a neck injury on his way to victory in the USA National Championships.

The popular Californian will stay in his home country for intensive treatment.

Lakeside's Australian Adam Shields has been booked as a guest for Hamill, with rider-replacement operating for Lindgren.

Coventry are chasing the play-offs and are the form team of the Elite League after winning 12 consecutive matches.

The Bees include British Grand Prix winner Chris Harris, who gave the sport a massive boost with his victory at the Millennium Stadium two months ago.

At reserve, former Wolves skipper Steve Johnston is partnered by Billy Janniro to give the visitors added firepower in the lower order.

"This is going to be a big test for us," said Wolves skipper Peter Karlsson.

"It's hard enough facing them with a full team, but without Freddie and Billy it makes it even tougher."

Coventry lead 52-41 from the first leg at Brandon in the battle for the aggregate bonus point.

Wolves: Peter Karlsson, David Howe, Freddie Lindgren R/R, Magnus Karlsson, Adam Shields, William Lawson, James Grieves.

Coventry: Scott Nicholls, Oliver Allen R/R, Chris Harris, Martin Smolinski, Rory Schlein, Billy Janniro, Steve Johnston.
