Former boss wants return
Former Rushall boss John Allen has admitted he still longs to get back into the dugout - and he can't wait to give up his acting chairman's role.
But current Pics chief Paul Holleran need not worry.
Allen is delighted with the progress made by the latest man to fill his former role and he has no plans to don the manager's sheepskin again.
"Paul is a good guy," said Allen, who made his name during countless stints in charge of the club.
"He knows his way around this level and he has brought in some good people to work alongside him so things are going well."
A vacancy in the Dales Lane boardroom has seen Allen step into the role of chairman while the club pursue a permanent appointment to fill the role.
But the former manager is adamant that he has no intention of staying in the role any longer than he has to.
He said: "I will be stepping down as soon as we can find someone to do the job.
"I am not the greatest diplomat in the world if I'm honest and when people come into the club afterwards and start wingeing and moaning I'm afraid I tend to speak my mind a bit to much.
"So, the sooner we have somebody else in place, the better."
And Allen is in no doubt about which role he would love to fill again - but he has assured Holleran he has no intention of following his management dreams again.
"Ideally I would rather manage but those days are gone," he said.
"There are a number of reasons why I won't manager again. There are so many things that I want to do with my time.
"My health isn't as good as it once was, so that is a good reason, but also I have things to do with my family, holidays I want to go on and a lot of work to do.
"So all of those things take up time."
Allen is, however, still a regular presence at Dales Lane to keep tabs on the team he once led from the dugout.
And he is impressed with the start they have made to the new season.
They had collected six points from their three matches before today.
"We are aware of our deficiencies and there are a few things that we are trying to address," he said.
"The players that Paul signed in the summer to play up front haven't been available for the start of the season but the lads who have come in have done very well.
"Damien Charie has done very well and so has Duncan Willetts, and we have the two lads who signed in the close season getting closer all the time.
"Paul Szewczyk has trained for the first time and Sean Dowdall is now back from America and he has looked sharp in training when we have seen him.
"Hopefully we can get them on the pitch soon."
Meanwhile, veteran Chris Brindley is one of Holleran's attacking options, and Allen is full of praise for the veteran assistant manager.
"Chris keeps himself very fit and he knows where he is at in his career," said Allen.
"He is assistant manager and is doing a good job at that, but we know he is always on hand to play if we need him."
