Wolves have beaten off the challenge of two other Elite League clubs to land World under-19 speedway champion Nicolai Klindt.

The 18-year-old Dane was also wanted by Poole and Peterborough, but Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten has secured his services for next season.

Klindt, who rides in Sweden as well as his home country, was parared in front of the Monmore Green crowd during the interval at last night's double-header against Eastbourne and Poole.

He actually rode as a guest for Wolves in a challenge match at Sheffield at the start of the season, but was injured at Owlerton after scoring four points.

But he has subsequently attracted attention from a number of British clubs, particularly after winning the under-19 title in Poland two weeks ago.

Monmore Green speedway supporters will have their first chance to see him in action when he takes part in the Banks's Olympique individual meeting on Monday, October 15.
