Stafford 1 Altrincham 1
Stafford Rangers are off the mark, - if not off the bottom - in the Blue Square Premier.
Stafford Rangers are off the mark, - if not off the bottom - in the Blue Square Premier.
A spot kick equaliser from teenager Marco Adaggio at Marston Road yesterday earned Rangers their first point of the campaign.
Adaggio got the nod in favour of veteran Neil Grayson to make is first start for Rangers and as well as his goal, he also got the man of the match award.
It might not have been the win Rangers so badly craved against a Robins side who have made almost equally poor start, but you have to start somewhere.
And when Robbie Lawton fired Altrincham into a 15th minute lead, prospects did look pretty bleak.
The visitors' lead lasted only three minutes - thanks to a blistering turn of pace from Adaggio.
He literally flew past Steve Rose in a chase for Richie Sutton's long through ball and the Robins' defender clearly tripped him from behind in the box.
Having earned the penalty, Adaggio was determined to take it himself - and promptly sent Richard Acton the wrong way with a fiercely driven kick.
