Halesowen Town chairman Nigel Pitt has announced he will quit The Grove at the end of the season.

And Pitt has revealed his vision for a new board to move the Yeltz to a new purpose-built stadium.

The businessman and Yeltz fan has been with the club for more than a decade, first as commercial manager and then as chairman.

But, in an open letter to supporters, he has confirmed that the current season will be his last with the Southern League outfit.

And the rest of the board will also step down in May, clearing the way for new directors to take the helm.

Pitt said: "The board, family and friends have always been aware of my agenda to spend more quality time with my wife in our villa in Cyprus and I feel the time is right.

"I will be stepping down as chairman of the football club at the end of the season but will continue to support the club financially until then.

"It has always been accepted that if I leave my current directors will also follow.

"Therefore we have this season to carefully introduce our exit strategy.

"The current board have worked very hard forging links with the community, residents, police, the grove trust and the local council to keep everyone in harmony and we feel this is the only way forward."

Pitt has overseen a period of stability with the club now established in the premier division of the British Gas Business League, formerly known as the Southern League.

But he issued an appeal last week for new investors to come forward to help fund a push for promotion to the Blue Square North.
