Robinson still has belief

The derby day defeat by Kidderminster has failed to shake Stafford Rangers manager Phil Robinson's belief in his revolution at Marston Road.

After watching his new-look side lose 3-1, Robinson described their attacking performance as "sensational".

In fact, Robinson was positively bubbling about Rangers first half showing, insisting: "That was probably the best we have played for 45 minutes since I have been involved at the club."

The Robinson revolution has seen a total of 12 new faces at Marston Road during the summer, the latest arrival being Matt Hazley, Stoke's Northern Ireland youth international, who has joined on a month's loan.

The new crop also includes two of the eyecatchers from Tuesday's game, Frenchmen Djoumin Sangare and Sebastian Arnolin.

It was Arnolin who got Rangers on the move goalwise with a splendid first half equaliser to cap an outstanding display.

Teenager Arnolin has moved to Stafford straight from his native country as a result of one of the manager's contacts in the game.

The midfielder was invited down for trials and Robinson had little hesitation in snapping him up.

Robinson says it will take a little time for Arnolin and the rest of the new boys to come together as an instinctive, cohesive unit.

"Kidderminster was only the second game together for most of the players, yet we still saw some fantastic play and great passing," said the Rangers boss.

"It's teams like Harriers who will be challenging for promotion at the end of the season.

"They do have a bit of an advantage over us, in being full-time, but you couldn't tell that in the first-half on Tuesday.

"We do have a lot to work on. I've said that this season may take a little bit of time to get up and running.

"I am confident we'll pick up a lot of wins if we continue to play like that."

Rangers, already missing Nathan Talbott and Nathan Smith, are counting casualities even at this early stage, with Kevin Street and Del Olaoye on the treatment table.

A hamstring strain to Hazley on his debut has also been a cause for concern.

The trio will get a full week to recover before facing one of Rangers' most daunting tasks this season in the Blue Square Premier - away to Jim Smith's Oxford United next Saturday.
