Kenna on target for Harriers

Veteran Jeff Kenna showed Kidderminster's front men how to finish by scoring the only goal in the 1-0 friendly win at Hinckley United.

Injuries among other things have played their part, but Harriers' four-strong strike-force hasn't looked the hottest this pre-season, and it took a drilled effort from the former Blackburn defender to settle this contest.

Summer signing Justin Richards failed to take any of his several chances, while fellow front-man James Constable missed the game with a thigh injury.

With Iyseden Christie only getting in his first half-hour's action of the summer during this match it was down to the youngest front-man in Matthew Barnes-Homer to carry the work-load and it was he who impressed.

He linked-up well with Kenna to give Kidderminster the lead with 16 minutes gone thanks to a well-worked set-piece.

One of the finds of the summer, 19 year-old centre-half Jon Munday rattled the woodwork for Mark Yates' side in the first half, with Richards snatching at his two attempts before the interval.

Keeper Scott Bevan was made to work a lot more for his clean sheet in the second half but Harriers still looked the strongest side with Richards again going close.

Harriers: Bevan, Kenna, Creighton, Munday, Bignot (Harkness 59), Penn, Ferrell (Hurren 59), Smikle (McGrath 61), Blackwood (Boukhalfa 61), Richards, Barnes-Homer (Christie 59).
