Rangers sign French defender

Stafford Rangers have completed their second signing of the summer with French defender Djoumin Sangare agreeing a move to Marston Road.

The 23-year-old made his debut in last night's defeat to Walsall in pre-season action after reaching an agreement with Rangers boss Phil Robinson.

Sangare played for both Grays and St Albans last season. He has also played for French club Wasquehal, Redbridge FC, Chelmsford City and Lewes.

The 6ft 1in tall defender can play at centre-back or left-back. He becomes the second man this summer to put pen to paper on a Marston Road deal after Richard Sutton made his loan move permanent.

And manager Phil Robinson is now running the rule over a host of trialists, several of whom played in last night's 3-1 loss to the Saddlers.

They included Stafford old boy Jemiah Richards, the 21-year-old defender who has also played for Rushall Olympic and Rushall.

Tom Ingram, who played for AFC Wallingford in Oxfordshire, also got a run-out, along with former Stevenage midfielder Matt Fisher.

Robinson is also taking a look at former Shrewsbury trainee Ross Draper, who played for more than an hour last night, and the manager is in need of several new faces after being forced to name both himself and assistant David Oldfield among the substitutes last night.

He watched his team acquit themselves well for the first half last night at Richard Sutton gave them the lead before Tommy Mooney equalised for Walsall. But two more Mooney goals gave Walsall victory.

Robinson said: "This was a major step up from what we have been playing against.

"Walsall are well into their pre-season and brought their first team which really tested us. They gave us a good workout and there were some really pleasing aspects in our play.

"The disappointing aspect was giving away two sloppy goals in the first half.

"I'm glad we got these mistakes out of the way in pre-season. On the whole, a good performance, a good workout."
