Harriers facing toughest task

Kidderminster boss Mark Yates was today bracing himself for his toughest job ever as a manager – shattering the Wembley dreams of some of his players.

Yates is set to announce the starting line-up for tomorrow's FA Trophy final to his squad at their London hotel this evening.

And the Harriers boss today admitted breaking the news to the unlucky players will be among the hardest things he has ever had to do.

"It will be destroying for me," he said. "But unfortunately that's my job and I have to pick the team I think will be capable of winning the game for Kidderminster Harriers.

"I can't have my favourites or pick somebody because he's my mate or because I really like him, because it's about us winning the game.

"I have to pick the team that is right and unfortunately that is going to mean big disappointment for one or two people."

Yates and his players were given a warm send-off as they left Aggborough yesterday, and the manager had no fresh injury worries as he boarded the coach.

His main decision appears to concern the wide midfield roles, with left winger Michael Blackwood set to move to left-back to replace the suspended Jonny Harkness.

Simon Russell seems certain to play on one of the flanks but Yates has a host of candidates vying for the final position, with Brian Smikle and Luke Reynolds seemingly near the front of the queue.
