The result pushes Wolves up to fifth place after a 2-0 defeat for Preston at Plymouth.

Elsewhere West Brom beat Coventry 1-0, while Southampton were 1-0 winners against Norwich and Stoke beat Colchester 3-1. Blues cemented their place at the top of the table with a 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday.

After a goalless first half, Andy Keogh claimed his first Molineux goal on 57 minutes.

The Irishman's initial effort from a cross was parried but he claimed the rebound to settle Wolves' nerves.

Just nine minutes later Molineux was rocking as Kightly made it 2-0.

Sloppy Rangers defending allowed Jay Bothroyd to get a cross in.

It was allowed to get all the way through to Kightly who had the simplest of tap-ins.

Keogh had had the best effort of the first half but his shot hit the side netting.

Mick McCarthy named the same team that had lost to Blues at Molineux last Sunday.

Wolves: Murray, Collins, Olofinjana, Breen, Craddock, McNamara, Bothroyd, Potter, McIndoe, Kightly, Keogh.

Subs: M Davies, Ward, Little, Hennessey, Gleeson.

QPR: Cole, Bignot, Bolder, Rowlands, Lomas, Kanyuka, Stewart, Furlong, Nygaard, Smith, Milanese.

Subs: R Jones, P Jones, Bailey, Moore, Timoska.
