Harriers on way to Wembley
Kidderminster Harriers will make footballing history when they become one of the first clubs to play at the new Wembley Stadium.
Win or lose, the team will be given a civic reception at Kidderminster town hall by the district council.
The Football Association today ended months of uncertainty by confirming the FA Trophy Final will be played at the new stadium.
More than 10,000 Harriers' fans are expected to descend on the capital on Saturday, May 12.
Details about ticket prices and availability have not yet been announced by the FA but the club expects huge demand.
The final will be played to a restricted capacity and will be the the first competitive fixture to be played at the £800 million stadium.
Manager Mark Yates' promotion chasers beat Northwich Victoria in the semi-final and meet fellow Conference side Stevenage Borough in the final.
Demand for coach places to Wembley is expected to be high.
Dana Andrews, licensee of Jacksons pub in Marlpool Lane, Franche, has already sold 23 tickets for a 53-seat coach he is organising for the big day.
Mr Andrews said: "Now the game has been confirmed for Wembley I am expecting a lot of interest in coach tickets.
"It is fantastic news for the town and will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone involved with the club."
The chairman of Harriers Independent Supporters' Trust, Alan Shepherd, predicted a £500,000 windfall for the club. Mr Shepherd said: "We also get the bragging rights to being the first West Midlands club to play there. We just can't wait."
