Wolves today finalised their 2007 speedway line-up by signing Carl Wilkinson to share the double-up reserve role with William Lawson.

Promoter Chris Van Straaten moved quickly after first target Steve Boxall decided against making the jump to the Elite League.

And he was pleased to land the 25-year-old Newport asset, who had a similar double-up role last season with the Ipswich Witches.

"He had some good meetings, including a couple of nine-point scores," said the Parrys International Wolves promoter this afternoon."But he didn't do the 12 matches necessary to get an average.

"At one time I thought Ipswich might do the same thing with a double-up this year, but they're not," added Van Straaten. "We got clearance to talk to him and managed quickly to come to terms. He was very keen, very pleased."

Wolves' full side for the new season now consists of Peter Karlsson, Billy Hamill, Freddie Lindgren, David Howe, Magnus Karlsson, Theo Pijper, Lawson and Wilkinson sharing one reserve berth and Chris Kerr at number eight.

n Wolves asset Adam Skornicki, whose loan contract at Oxford was unexpectedly cancelled by the Cheetahs, is believed to be close to securing a place with another Elite League team.
