The Swedish ace returned to Monmore after a loan spell at Peterborough and had a hugely successful season, putting more than three-tenths of a point on what was already a nine-plus average.

Team manager Peter Adams confirmed there were no surprises in his selection of captain: "Yes, I think everybody's expecting it to be Theo Pijper," he joked."No, it's obviously going to be Peter again. He's a good captain. More and more people respect him.

"I think for many years to some people Peter was just Peter Karlsson - some Swede who had never spoken to anybody.

"But as people get to know him they realise what a down to earth sort of guy he is.

"He's very helpful, as anybody that has worked with him will tell you.

"Sometimes it (the captaincy) weighs heavily on people with the pressure and their form suffers as a result.

"But that hasn't happened to him. Last year his figures were better - and I'm expecting them to be at least as good this time."
