The 22-year-old loanee scored 27 minutes into his Saddlers debut on Saturday and caught the eye with an all-action display.

And the former Leicester trainee has now admitted he might need to leave Oakwell to kick-start his career, with a possible move to Bescot one of his preferred options.

Wright said: "I think the Walsall manager has been quoted as saying this a loan with a view to a permanent deal, but we'll have to wait and see.

"Obviously, we are flying high in the league at the moment and the fact that Walsall are in League Two doesn't bother me at all.

"But at the moment I just want to concentrate on playing regularly for the next two months, scoring some goals and then we will take it from there."

Wright signed on a two- month loan deal before Thursday's transfer deadline and replaced Hector Sam to make his debut in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Notts County.

He was one of several victims of an extraordinary deadline day clear-out for managerless Barnsley and Wright has admitted his future there is uncertain.

He said: "I've still got 18 months left on my contract, but I've come here because I wanted to play football and I thought this was the right move for me at this stage."

Walsall's annual general meeting was held this morning at Bescot. Directors Richard Tisdale and Clive Welch were re-elected.
