Harriers boss Mark Yates snapped up the Walsall striker on a two-month loan deal before yesterday's transfer deadline following the recall of Plymouth forward Reuben Reid.

Yates said: "James is a goalscorer who has scored goals for Walsall and also previously during his non- league career.

"He is big, strong and quick and we think he will score goals for us."

Yates revealed he inquired about signing Constable earlier in the season - but Walsall would not let him leave Bescot.

However, the Saddlers' signing of on-loan Barnsley man Tommy Wright yesterday meant they were willing to let Constable leave temporarily to gain first team experience.

Yates said: "He is someone I've asked about a couple of times and not been able to get, so I'm delighted that Walsall have now allowed him to join us."

Yates is without utility man Jake Sedgemore for tomorrow's Conference game at Aggborough.

The former Shrewsbury man is still struggling with a troublesome knee injury but Yates is confident that he will be back in training by the middle of next week.

And the manager is now looking for his side to find some consistency in order to climb the table.

He said: "In this division any side that is able to win three games in a row will climb very quickly.

"We believe we are capable of doing that and that has to be our aim."
