Nicki keen to stay with Eagles

Speedway's most wanted man Nicki Pedersen has named his preferred club for 2007 - Eastbourne. The Wolves asset has been the subject of fevered speculation after news broke that the Eagles' arch-rivals Poole had declared an interest.

But Pedersen wants to stay at Arlington - and says he only gets booed at Wolverhampton because the Monmore fans are jealous."I would like, definitely, to stay at Eastbourne," said the world No 3 after rattling in 10 points at Ipswich in the Craven Shield.

"It really suits me. The guys there are superb and everything works. But it's all about business at the end of the day, so we need to sit down and have a good talk.

"Of course Eastbourne will get the first choice, and there have been other clubs interested."

Pedersen doesn't mind whether the deal is a continuation of his current loan or an outright purchase - but he wants to restore the trophy winning days at Eastbourne.

"I think they deserve to get something," he said.

"They haven't done particularly well in the past, so it could be nice to make a change for next year."

The rider had his controversial times in a Wolves race jacket, and it seems unlikely that the Dane will ever don the black and gold again.

"Never say never," he said. "But at the moment it doesn't look like it.

He laps up the fans' reaction: "I love it every time they come and boo me," he said. "They only boo me because they actually are jealous I don't ride for them.

"It makes me stronger. Then I can go out and show them I'm definitely the best in Wolverhampton - and that's nice!"
