Adams opts for tactical switch
Wolves are making a team order switch as they make their last-gasp dash for speedway's Elite League play-offs next week.Team manager Peter Adams decided today to switch Christian Hefenbrock from the number two spot - where he has to face the opposition's top man in his first race - to three.
Ronnie Correy moves in the opposite direction.
Hefenbrock has struggled in Britain recently but produced a stellar performance in last night's Swedish play-offs semi-final. He dropped just one point in four races and beat top stars Bjarne Pedersen and Chris Harris.
"I can't understand how Christian performs so fantastically on his travels but can't do it for us," said Adams today.
"He's a quiet lad and the last few times he has come in from that first race with his chin on the floor. Moving him from number two gives him a couple of races to watch the others."
The move partners the German with Billy Hamill.
"Billy is a wise old owl," said Adams. "If Christian can trap from that outside gate, Billy has the wherewithal to make it count.
"Ronnie isn't thrilled about it, but he is taking it for the team."
Hefenbrock was delighted with the decision. "That's great news," he said today.
"At the moment I don't know what's up in England.
"I don't feel good on the bike. I think I am letting my teammates down. But I am working hard on it."
Wolves face Belle Vue, Coventry and Poole in the run-in next week.
Peter Karlsson is a fitness doubt for tonight's second leg Swedish semi-final play-off with a hand injury.
