Wolves snatch last-heat win

In fact, for much of the meeting Wolves were less the cow than the sacrificial lamb - and Ipswich were happy to get on with the slaughtering.

Last night's single point success, overturning a deficit of TEN over the final three heats, all but defied belief.

The yawning chasm in the scoresheet between Wolves' mighty top three and the second strings/reserves meant Ipswich could virtually write their own scoresheet in heat 12.

A cuter - or, more cynical side - would have lined up a 4-2 to extend their six-point advantage to eight and rule out a double-point tactical ride for the home side.

Ipswich, however, played it straight.
