Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg ‘friend-zoned’ actor Andrew Garfield
The 31-year-old internet star told Cosmopolitan UK that she loved her Chicken Shop Date with the actor, saying he was lovely.

British presenter Amelia Dimoldenberg has said she “friend-zoned” Hollywood star Andrew Garfield.
The 31-year-old internet star is the founder and host of the hit YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, in which she interviews celebrity guests around various chicken shops in London.
Dimoldenberg, who features on the cover of Cosmopolitan’s UK April/May issue, told the magazine that she loved her on-screen date with the actor, saying he was lovely.
The long-awaited date, which garnered more than 10 million views, came after the pair went viral for their onscreen chemistry when Dimoldenberg interviewed Garfield in 2022 at the GQ Men of the Year red carpet and then again in 2023 at the Golden Globes red carpet.
Dimoldenberg said: “I’m so happy to have made something that’s affected people in that way. To see videos of people renting out their office meeting rooms to watch the episode – it was one of the best things I’ve ever been a part of.
“I’m really proud of it. We’re friendly. It’s been great to speak to him about how well the episode has done. He’s so lovely. As I said in the episode, I friend-zoned him…”
The series shot to fame for Dimoldenberg’s awkward and sarcastic persona, asking direct questions in the context of a romantic date in the slightly less romantic setting of a chicken shop.
Despite her own personal rise to fame, the presenter says she is not interested in pursuing friendships with celebrities.
Dimoldenberg added: “I consider myself a journalist, and once you start getting that close to the people you’re interviewing, it changes the way you can approach the interview.
“People want to hang out with me because I’m a fun time and I like to party, but I’m not interested in pursuing friendships with celebrities.

“I’m glad that I have my actual friends, but it’s really nice, especially in Hollywood, to make something that people love.
“(Chicken Shop Date) is a great conversation starter. (But) every time I’ve been in those situations, I’ve been glad to leave. Because it’s not real. I feel confident (being there), but after a while I no longer feel comfortable. It’s like being in the television.”
Notable guests on the series include singers Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Cher, Jack Harlow and Ed Sheeran along with actors Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.
The series has had its fair share of viral moments, including a soundbite from her date with journalist Louis Theroux which led him to make a music video for his song Jiggle Jiggle with Dimoldenberg, American singer Jason Derulo and musical group Duke & Jones.
Dimoldenberg recently hosted the Oscars red carpet for the second time, taking on the role as their social media correspondent.
The April/May issue of Cosmopolitan UK is on sale from Friday March 7.
