Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things has been named the world’s best-selling digital single of 2024 by the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

The singer, who was nominated for best new artist at this year’s Grammy Awards, was awarded the IFPI Global Single Award For 2024 for the biggest selling single across digital formats such as paid subscription streaming, ad-supported platforms and single track downloads.

Boone, 22, beat Sabrina Carpenter, who came second with her single Espresso, Teddy Swims, who finished third with Lose Control, Billie Eilish who had the fourth best-seller with Birds Of A Feather, and Shaboozey, who came fifth with A Bar Song (Tipsy).

It was Boone’s first appearance in the chart’s top 10. Four of the top five records came from artists making their first appearance in the IFPI chart this year.

Victoria Oakley, chief executive of the IFPI, said: “We are delighted to present the IFPI Global Single Award to Benson Boone.

“As a global breakout artist, this is an amazing achievement to produce a truly worldwide hit. Congratulations to Benson, his team and Warner Records for this incredible accomplishment.

“It is also fantastic to see so many other newcomers to the industry shine through in the IFPI Global Singles Chart.

“It is a wonderful reflection of how emerging artists, working in partnership with their record labels, are finding international success.”

The rest of the top 10 best-selling singles digitally were Hozier’s Too Sweet (six), Post Malone’s I Had Some Help (seven) featuring Morgan Wallen, Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us (eight), Taylor Swift’s Cruel Summer (nine), and Noah Kahan’s Stick Season (10).

Washington-born Boone released his debut album Fireworks And Rollerblades last year, reaching number 16 in the UK album charts. Beautiful Things also reached the summit of the UK singles chart.

Boone lost out on the best new artist Grammy to Hot To Go! singer Chappell Roan.
