Priyanka Chopra says financial uncertainty of acting makes her anxious
She is one of the highest-paid Indian actresses.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas says her career as an actress being “uncertain” has caused her anxiety because she does not know when she will get paid.
The Bollywood star, known for science fiction film The Matrix Resurrections and spy series Citadel, is one of the highest-paid Indian actresses.
Chopra Jonas told Harper’s Bazaar UK March Issue: “My job is uncertain. It’s not a cheque coming in every month, so it creates an anxiety.
“I’m a greedy actor. I love my job very much.”
She also spoke to the magazine about how she enjoys “the simpler things in life: taking a walk, getting ice-cream, reading a book. And my job is just the opposite”.
Chopra Jonas, 42, added: “I’m a cancer (star sign) – I cry at the drop of a hat. I love my family, I live to eat. I like talking about dinner when I’m having my lunch.”
She tied the knot in two glamours ceremonies with the singer Nick Jonas in 2018, and they welcomed a daughter via surrogacy in 2022.
Speaking about her marriage to Jonas, a 32-year-old singer-songwriter and member of pop group the Jonas Brothers, she said she would not have wedded him if “he didn’t tick all the right boxes”.
“You have to look for someone who respects you,” Jonas added.
“Respect is different from love and affection… You’ve got to kiss a lot of frogs until you find your prince.”
Chopra Jonas rose to fame as the winner of the Miss World 2000 pageant before going on to star in Indian films such as Andaaz, Aitraaz and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
She later moved into American film and TV, such as thriller series Quantico and Hollywood films including a Baywatch remake and romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic.
She was featured on the BBC 100 Women list and Forbes World’s Most Powerful Women list in 2022.
