Charli XCX brings Brat to the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles
The awards saw a wide variety of artists take to the stage.
The 67th Grammy Awards ceremony saw a wide range of performances from tributes to Quincy Jones and Harry Styles to Charli XCX bringing Brat to Los Angeles.
Here is a run-down of the musicians who took to the stage.
– Dawes and special guests
The ceremony opened with a performance of Randy Newman’s I Love L.A. by folk rock band Dawes who were joined by John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, Brittany Howard and St Vincent.
Dawes’ two singers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith both lost their homes in the Los Angeles wildfire.
– Billie Eilish
Eilish performed Birds Of A Feather from her latest album Hit Me Hard And Soft, joined by her brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell.
The performance ended with childhood pictures of the pair paying tribute to Los Angeles following the wildfires.
– Sabrina Carpenter
The singer opened her medley performance singing Espresso in a lounge style, before removing her tuxedo dress to reveal a glittering blue outfit and moving into the song’s more familiar version.
She then walked into a house and exited singing Please Please Please flanked by four suited dancers.
Carpenter then went back into Espresso joined by more dancers, with the performance featuring a number of the theatrical elements of her Short N’ Sweet tour.
– Chappell Roan
Roan appeared on stage atop a model horse singing Pink Pony Club surrounded by dancers dressed as cowboy clowns.
The singer was dressed in an armour style outfit, while her band performed alongside her in similarly glamorous dress.
She was introduced to the stage by singer Olivia Rodrigo, who Roan served as the opening act for at some gigs on her Guts tour.
– Khruangbin
Psychedelic rock trio Khurangbin performed a chilled out rendition of May Ninth from 2024 album A La Sala.
The band made up of Laura Lee Ochoa, Mark Speer and DJ Johnson merge world music, with soul, dub and rock.
– Benson Boone
Boone emerged from the crowd to sing his hit Beautiful Things flipping on to the stage to join his band dressed in a sparkly blue jump suit.
At the end of his performance, the singer shouted: “Thank you, I love you LA.”
– Doechii
Best rap album winner Doechii appeared straight after Boone on a raised platform, dressed in a suit matching her dancers and singing her song Catfish as its lyrics were projected behind her.
The rapper then stripped off her suit and sung Denial Is A River, kicking dancers as she delivered the song’s spoken word lines.
– Teddy Swims
Singer Teddy Swims sang his UK top 10 hit Lose Control wearing sunglasses and dressed in a long white and red coat, joined by his band.
– Shaboozey
Country singer Shaboozey performed his hit A Bar Song (Tipsy) joined by dancers dressed as cowboys.
The audience clapped along as the singer jumped on a box to finish the song, saying “we love you LA” at its conclusion.
– Raye
British singer Raye performed her song Oscar Winning Tears arriving on stage saying “hello Grammys”.
The singer was joined by a choir, orchestra and her band, and wore a black sparkly dress.
– Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars
The pair performed California Dreamin’ by The Mamas And The Papas while wearing country outfits in tribute to the LA wildfires.
Lady Gaga wore a long white dress, while Mars wore a brown cowboy hat.
– The Weeknd
The Weeknd arrived on an elevated black stage with red lighting as dancers reached up at him, he was joined by rapper Playboy Carti for the performance of Cry For Me from new album Hurry Up Tomorrow.
– Quincy Jones tribute
Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Cynthia Erivo, Janelle Monae, Lainey Wilson and Jacob Collier all took their turn to perform and array of songs related to the music producer’s career after he died last year aged 91.
The performance saw Monae transform into Michael Jackson to perform Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, and Hancock and Wonder play jazz standard Bluesette together.
– Chris Martin
The Coldplay frontman sang All My Love, from the band’s new album Moon Music, while playing piano during the in memoriam part of the show.
Clips of One Direction singer Liam Payne from his time with the boyband were shown on the screen as Martin played, followed by an image of the late singer smiling, after his death last year aged 31.
– Shakira
The Colombian singer performed a medley of Ojos Asi from her 1998 album Donde Estan Los Ladrones? and 2023 song Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53, on the day she turned 48.
As she performed after winning best Latin pop album for Las Mujeres Ya No Llloran, the stage transformed into a purple church.
– Charli XCX
Charli XCX, real name Charlotte Aitchison, emerged from a blacked-out 4×4 in a long black fur coat and blue underwear singing her hit Von Dutch, joined by dancers in Brat-style clothing.
As she moved into the Los Angeles venue to sing Guess, she took off the fur coat, where she was joined by more dancers, and the song’s producer The Dare, real name Harrison Smith.
At the end of the track, Charli looked into the dancing crowd behind her and said “happy birthday Julia Fox” and pulled her to the front as she turned 35 on Sunday.
