The Walsall stadium is set to host big names throughout this month until December. Comedians Frank Carson and Stan Boardman have already signed up, along with singer Joe Longthorne and a Take That tribute act. Rare early versions of hit songs by Stourbridge rock heroes The Wonder Stuff are to be auctioned off to raise cash for the Oscar Fradgley appeal. Frontman Miles Hunt used to play in a band with Oscar's father Chris before shooting to fame in the late 1980s. Hunt performed at a tribute gig to the four-year-old earlier this year and promised to do all he could to help. The pace is hotting up for Black Country companies wanting to win a piece of the action in the run-up to the London 2012 Olympics, a conference of business leaders in Walsall heard. The event at the Bescot Stadium, organised by Black Country Chamber of Commerce with Advantage West Midlands and West Midlands Business Council, was designed to give businesses an insight into the tendering process for the games and how they can take advantage. Around 50 leading Black Country executives heard how the number of tenders on offer from organisers was increasing, with new opportunities being added almost daily.
