Mick Keene (Sensas Total Angling) enjoyed a treble at Springlea this week, starting with his second Tuesday evening victory on the trot. Having won on the Orfe Pool last Tuesday, Mick repeated the performance on the Trevors Pool this week, by scaling 25-13-0. The same two anglers who followed Keene last time did so again, but in reverse order, with Kev Pilsbury (Sensas TA) getting second with 20-1-0 ahead of fellow STA man Perry Dalgarno on 16-5-0. It was back to the Orfe Pool on Thursday where 'Keeno' was soon into his stride with carp to 5lbs on pellet and paste at peg 37. The Chestnut pool proved to be slightly better than the Sycamore, filling the top two places, and providing match winner John Newton (WB Clarke) with the best catch of the week. John drew peg 14 on the Chestnut, and netted carp to 7lbs by offering maggot in the margins. When the scales arrived, he had 74-3-0 in the keepnet, which was just enough to put him ahead of Matt Stobbs (Rod & Gun). Matt was on the other side of the Chestnut, at peg 38, and he too caught close in on maggot, but with slightly smaller fish, going to 6lbs, he finished on 70-14-0. Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) was exactly a pound behind second, with a Sycamore Pool best of 69-14-0 at corner peg 50. Fourth went to Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) on 65-8-0 at point peg 13 on the Sycamore.
