West Brom drew first blood in the Black Country derby dress rehearsal to leave Wolves licking their wounds.
Wolves enjoyed most of the possession, but a younger Baggies side were better where it mattered most last night.
It proved to be a game of few clear-cut chances at AFC Telford before the seniors do battle in the Premier League at the Hawthorns in 10 days time.
Romaine Sawyers' 55th minute lob took David Oldfield's unbeaten side to the top of the FA Barclays Reserve League South after their fourth successive win.
The Baggies were first to threaten and Alex Jones' near-post flick had goalkeeper Dorus De Vries scampering down low to save, after James Hurst burst down the right to cross.
De Vries' blushes were spared soon after when he was forced to slide feet first on Jones, who couldn't bring the ball under control after the striker was allowed to latch on to a huge kick from Luke Daniels and the ball bounced.
Wolves hit back when their best player, Adam Hammill, dispossessed James Edge and burst past Liam O'Neil in a 50-yard run that ended when he ran into Paul Downing deep in the box, as he struggled to get his shot in.
Striker Ashley Hemmings saw a first-time shot parried by goalkeeper Luke Daniels as Wolves finally threatened the goal in the 17th minute following a smart pass from Jack Price.
That was the cue for a period of sustained attacking from Wolves, who produced a series of half chances.
Ronald Zubar headed straight at Daniels from a corner then Michael Kightly sent a curling effort a foot over from the edge of the 'D.'
And, after being booked for hacking at O'Neil, Hammill nutmegged him and Edge in another speedy run that culminated in a 25-yard shot that bounced a few feet wide.
But the Baggies made Wolves pay for their missed chances by grabbing the winner 10 minutes after the break.
Hurst spotted Sawyer's excellent run forward, and, with De Vries coming out of his goal, the young striker lobbed him from 20 yards.
Wolves never really recovered from the blow and it was the Baggies' turn to become the attacking force.
Jones got away from Michael Ihiekwe to turn and fire just wide before the same player somehow missed an open goal after a speedy Albion break and cross from Kemar Roofe, Jones spooning wide.
Wolves recovered to force an opening through Hemmings, who ran from right to left across the box before lashing inches wide from 15 yards with Daniels rooted to the spot after Kightly and Zubar combined on the right.
Kightly showed a flash of his old magic after dropping his shoulder to gain a yard on Cameron Gayle before unleashing a fierce drive that Daniels gathered at his near post.
But Albion had little trouble protecting their lead and there was no way back for Wolves.
