Dudley Town footballers bring festive fun on visit to Russells Hall Hospital - WATCH and PICTURES
Dozens of presents were handed out to children at Russells Hall Hospital by Dudley Town Football Club players.
Around 60 wrapped gifts were given to young patients and families at the Dudley hospital's children's ward.
The visit was the 13th annual trip by the club players to the hospital.
Club bosses said it was great to smiles on patients faces during the 'enjoyable visit'.
Jason Connon, commercial manager at Dudley Town FC, club, said: "It was great to see smiles on all the children's faces.
"It is always a difficult time when you're in hospital, and particularly at Christmas.
"The players visited the children's ward and spoke to to different children. "One young lad there loved Lego, and we got him a small Lego kit. The smile on his face absolutely lit up.
"The staff, such as doctors and nurses, were very supportive during our visit."
The club raised more than £850 to buy the presents after fundraising began in November.
"We went to the local Toys "R" Us shop, in Dudley, and bought the presents for the children in the ward," Jason said.
Chairman Stephen Austin started the club's visits to the hospital in 2003.
He wasn't able to attend the hospital this year because of illness, Jason said.
He added: "I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff - the ward sisters and all the nurses and doctors work for their hospitality.
"A big thank you for all the work done over the Christmas period, and making sure the children have as an enjoyable time as possible."
Hospital bosses they always look forward to the visit of Dudley Town FC each year.
Dr Paul Harrison, acting chief executive, of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: "It is always heart-warming to see the players put a smile on the faces of the poorly children we look after."
