Caught on CCTV: Man sought after Co-op cash robbery

Staffordshire Police has released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with a robbery in Lichfield.

The Co-op store in Boley Park was targeted at around 9.15pm last Friday.

The man is described as a white man in his late 30's, of average build, about 5ft 6" tall with gingery brown stubble and moustache. Staffordshire Police say he was wearing a white and blue cap and a blue jacket.

They added: "The offender approached the cigarette kiosk inside the store and asked for some cigarettes. As the till was opened to give the offender his change he leaned across the counter, placing his hands inside the till. The cashier wrestled with the man and he gripped her hand, pulling it and telling her not to scream or he would hurt her.

The cashier shouted out to alert other staff members, at which time the offender grabbed hold of £160 of cash and ran out of the store in the direction of Abbotsford Road."

Anyone with any information, or who recognises the man captured on CCTV, is asked to contact Staffordshire police on 101, quoting incident number 764 of 19 February.
