Lambing season is coming on leaps and bounds at the Rodbaston Campus of South Staffordshire College in Penkridge and visitors of all ages can have a cuddle with the latest additions and even help bottle feed them.

The Meet the Lambs hands on experience is part of The Animal Zone run by the college and is taking place again this weekend (March 28-29).

Julie Burdett, supervisor of the Animal Zone and Visitor Centre, said: "We all look forward to the lambing weekends. It's very rewarding to see how much excitement children and adults alike get through the close interaction with the farm animals."

The farm is expecting around 400 lambs to be born this season.

The baby boom will be cared for 24 hours a day by agricultural students, led by Rodbaston farm manager, Jon Giles.

The Animal Zone is open from 10-5pm and booking is advised for the popular feeding sessions.

The interactive sessions will take place at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors can also see a variety of other animals during their visit, with The Animal Zone home to around 750 animals including meerkats, monkeys, reptiles, companion animals and exotics.

Tickets to the farm cost £5.20 for adults, £4.20 for children (under three are free) and concessions and a family ticket for four is £16.

The sessions are very popular and families are advised to book early by calling 01785 710560. The event is not suitable for pregnant women and for more information on the centre visit www.southstaffs.ac.uk/animal-zone
