Mel Eves, Steve Bull, Jody Craddock and Dale Rudge all appeared at the charity match in Stourbridge.

Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital A&E staff and the Dudley Group Charity teams had a number of special guests to help them out in a bid to raise funds.

The A&E staff, with the help of Jody Craddock and Dale Rudge, ran out 4-0 winners in a match that was supported by a 600-strong crowd.

Paul Smith, a clinical support worker at the hospital who helped organise the match, said: "It was absolutely fantastic and it's really pleasing to get the support from the ex-professionals.

"Jody is still a very good player and Dale played really well.

"Mel Eves enjoyed himself and was joking around, and Steve Bull had a crowd around him the whole time of people who wanted pictures with him," he said.

The charity match at the weekend raised money for new equipment for the emergency department, including a vein finder and sensory equipment for children.

Mr Smith said: "We raised about £1,000 we think, we are still counting it up at the moment.

"It will go towards new equipment for the equipment for the emergency department.

"We had somewhere between 620 and 640 people come to watch which is just brilliant.

"The teams were really well supported, and they were treated to some good football.

"The teams mixed really well and there was a good team spirit on both sides."

On Saturday, there will be a presentation evening for the players at The Village Hotel in Dudley, where Mr Rudge will also be attending.

Mr Smith said: "We have Jenny Jones from The Voice coming to that and Dale will also be there.

"Jody Craddock and Steve Bull both raise money for their own charities and they have other engagements on Saturday but we really appreciate them supporting us this weekend."
