Sun comes out for Stourbridge Carnival - In pictures

Thousands of people enjoyed the sunshine, parade and activities at this year's Stourbridge Carnival.

The theme for the 26th annual Stourbridge Carnival was Food Glorious Food and so there was a host of tasty treats on offer for all the family.

Food stalls lined the streets, along with games, side shows, activities and the fun fair.

The crowds were entertained with a dazzling series of dance shows put on by a range of groups from the local community.

The ATC Kingswinford band lead the parade through the town it went from Lower High Street at 12.40pm the town and into the main arena. Those taking part included the Fantasy Dance group , Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company, Hanbury Baptist Church and Thorns Community College.

Visitors also had the chance to see some classic cars which had been put on display.

Adrian Mead, 45, had brought along his 1979 Austin Minor pick-up truck.

The mechanic from Elgan Close, Stourbridge said: "This is the first time I've brought this truck along. I only bought it in December but its previous owner used to bring it. I've been coming for year and have brought some of my other cars. It's always a really good event and although there aren't as many cars this year lots of people are interested in them."

Lisa Walker, had brought her daughter Maisie, aged six along to the carnival to take part in the dancing.

The 43-year-old from Pedmore said: "She was fantastic in her dancing and she really loves it. So now that she has done that we are going on some of the rides and goibg to have a wander about."

The telesales worker added: "The weather is fantastic and it has brought so many people out."

Carnival chairman David Harcourt said: "We have had a really fantastic turn out. We have also managed to work round the disruption in the town caused by the developments, so it has not impacted on the carnival. The weather has certainly helped us, but also the community love to show their support for the town and local organisations. In fact some charities say the carnival is the biggest fundraising event of their year, so I hope people give generously."
