Crowds flock to Ladies' Evening at Wolverhampton Racecourse
It was a night of glitz and glamour as women donned their fancy frocks and fascinators for a flutter on the horses during a Ladies' Evening at Wolverhampton Racecourse.
The guests all donned their best outfits for the event. The evening was extra special for Jodie Lane from Sedgley who was out on her hen party. She went along to Dunstall Park with around 19 of her friends and family. Miss Lane, who wore a black, knee length dress with cream high-heels, said: "My friend and bridesmaid organised for us to come along to Ladies' Evening and it's been fantastic.
"I usually go to Chester with my friends but this has been so much fun." The 24-year-old nurse added: "It's a bit of a laugh really."
Her bridesmaid and younger sister Jessica Lane, of Nigel Road, Gornal, wore a plum coloured dress.
She said: "It's been a lot of fun and I even managed to back a winner on the first few races."
Meanwhile Lindsey Whitehouse, 33, from Lanesfield, Wolverhampton, was there with eight of her friends and family. The races were her birthday treat.
The B&Q retail supervisor said: "It's lovely coming here and seeing everyone dressed up.
"I've never been to the races before but my auntie comes every year so she persuaded me."
Ladies' Evening is an annual occasion and an highlight on the racing calendar in Wolverhampton.
Awards were handed out for best dressed and best hat, while a new award was also created this year for the best shoes.
Eight races took place between 5.30pm and 9pm and live band Battle of the Divas performed after the last race.
