The Goldthorn Hotel, in Penn Road, today unveiled its new look after the cash injection by the Focus Hotel group, which purchased the former Quality Hotel after its parent company went into administration in January 2009.
Under the new management The Goldthorn has returned to its traditional name and has enjoyed a complete makeover.
The Focus Hotel group said the investment had saved 35 local jobs and made the hotel a destination for business and leisure guests.General manager Carl Kendrick said: "The idea was to totally improve the building and the standard of accommodation.
"It seems to be working. We are getting very good comments through from people who have stayed, and a lot of local people who have been in have said it looks massively improved.
"It has really perked the staff up as well."
