The 28-year-old of Great Bridge said: "It is basically finished. The club is gutted and I am devastated – this is more than just a simple clean-up job. At the moment, I've just put the boards up and have been trying to secure it."

Mr Nayyar took over the club opposite Victoria Park in Victoria Road eight years ago. "This is the worst possible time of year for this to happen. I've had to cancel a Christmas party for a group from Birmingham Airport and New Year's Eve.

"The roof is half gone, the DJ equipment is ruined and there's water everywhere."

Firefighters from Tipton, Wednesbury and Oldbury were called to the scene at 4am yesterday. Anyone with information can call police on 0845 1135000.nextpageWD3508214@VICTORIA 4 TT 13nextpage
