A motorist had a lucky escape today when the car he was driving careered off a Black Country road and crashed into a lamp post and tree.

A rapid response vehicle was sent to the scene, but the driver escaped with only minor injuries. As these dramatic pictures show, the lamp post was snapped in two due to the force of the crash. It was left lying across the pavement following the accident which left the red vehicle tottering on two wheels, half balanced against the tree.nextpage
